A Christmas Power Ballad

My friend Danielle lives so far away -- in Hawai'i! So instead of sending her a physical gift, I wrote her a silly Christmas song.
Enjoy!

(lyrics)

It’s Christmas time, and you know what that means,
A lot of crappy Christmas songs on the radio.
And since you’re already annoyed by all those,
Writing another one was clearly the way to go.
‘Cause let’s be honest: these things aren’t that hard to write;
Just mention “Jesus,” or “presents,” or even “the cold,”
And you’ve got yourself a classic that they’ll play on repeat
For three months, and I swear for some,
it never gets old.

So I wrote you one too
In your favorite style
It’s a power ballad

MERRY CHRISTMAS, DANIELLE
I hope that you are doing well
Couldn’t send a present to ya
‘Cause you live in Hawai’ia (And shippin’ is pricey)
Yeah yeah
Later I can probly call ya
Til then, enjoy your Saturnalia
(you like that pagan-ass shit)
[ad lib] I know you celebrate the pagan stuff, and that’s cool
[ad lib other stuff about goats]

MERRY CHRISTMAS, DANIELLE
I hope that you are doing well
Couldn’t send a present to ya
‘Cause you live in Hawai’ia (and I don’t have Amazon
PRIME)
And it’s really hard to rhyme
Coulda got you somethin’ better
Like at the very least a letter
(with a gift card)
With a gift card

[ad lib al fine]
